Issue #60 - "Do You Trust Me?" by Will Holmes Jr. - August 2007

Introduction:
Hardship has a way of breaking us down, causing us to lose trust in God. But, "for every dark situation, you have to find where God's light is shining" (Will Holmes Jr. "Seeking Solace" p.36). Those hard times teach us patience, and with patience we gain experience, and with experience we have hope, and as long as you have hope, your situation is never hopeless.

DO YOU TRUST ME?" by Will Holmes Jr.

If God were to ask you this question, could you always answer “YES?”
I mean, we can all repeat the phrase:
“I’m too blessed to be stressed.”

But, what happens when you are:
Too stressed to confess – that Jesus is Lord and God is the King of Kings,
The source of your strength and your everything?

"I’m too blessed to be stressed,"
Is easy to profess,
When all is going perfect and you expect nothing less.
But, in every life, we all must face trials and tests,
Possibly feeling like our whole life is a mess,
Questioning why we had to go through this and that, with no in between rest.

Sometimes we expect God to provide us with everything we ask for under the sun,
Quoting that we “are anointed” or “God’s chosen one,”
But, as soon as things don’t go as requested or planned,
We go on the run...
Turning in our sword of the word, for a loaded gun.
Fugitives from our faith,
Armed with bullets of jealousy, envy and hate...
After we shoot all those around us, we shoot ourselves in dis-grace,
Because we forgot about HIS grace... and we lost our place.
Left his right hand because we got impatient with HIS plan.

Remember the story of Job and all he went through...
Job had everything and trusted God with all he knew,
But Satan questioned God if this was true.
God gave Satan the green light to take anything from Job except his life
Job’s faith wavered, darkness overcame his light.
People around him discouraged him, continued to darken his night.
But Job’s faith eventually came back,
He had nothing (but God), and trusted Him no matter how much he lacked. (edited)
For his faith, God gave Job double what he had before...
DO YOU TRUST ME?
Job’s answer was "YES... but, now even more."

So,
DO YOU TRUST ME?
Maybe now this is hitting home...
Just like happiness is easy, until you are alone (but with God) (edited)

Test answers are easy to copy,
Words are easy to say and use,
But is your real answer “false,” when you said “true?”
Sometimes we must face and admit where our faith stands,
I always answered this question "yes," but was that just because things were going as I planned?

And I realized that every time I trusted, God had a blessing on the other side of the test...
That I would be rewarded with answers to some of my questions once I had finished my quest.
But with every trial, my faith grows, so I’m ready.
Just gotta stay on the path, consistent and steady.

My faith has been tested so now I know it to be true... DO YOU TRUST ME?
Yes, Lord... I trust You.

Romans 5:1-5
1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our LORD Jesus Christ:

3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
