Biography
Ray Charles Mbugua - now married to the beautiful Risber Mbugua, was born May 14th in Nairobi, Kenya. Dedicated to the preservation of wildlife, landscapes, and world culture, he has committed himself to painting such. His art works are the product of a self-taught Artist with a gift that goes back to his early school days. Destined to be an artist from birth, Ray always saw painting as a way to express himself as well as those around him. With a career that now spans 14 years, he has successfully drawn attention to the beauty of God's nature that we are too busy at times to notice. He has done so at many Kenyan art exhibitions and has also sold his works to many galleries. He has also customized paintings sold directly to a considerable number of art lovers worldwide. As a man who loves people, it's no wonder he remembers his school days so well. He tells a story of his beginnings in fine arts class. On assignment to create a full figure drawing, he once did such an extravagant job that his Art Teacher, in amazement, unexpectedly offered him cash for his work. I didn't ask how much he sold for, but it must have been significant, because Ray's friends got free lunch that day! His Art Teacher, must have known this little artist was destined for greatness. Although a rough road it was, this little artist is no longer little. Yet still, this is just the beginning. As a "Born Again" Artist, Ray gives all credit to God for the talent and the ability to do the work he does. In his eyes, God is the artist who paints a thousand landscapes ever day; An artist who he proudly models his work after. Ray Charles M. toured the U.S. from September through October 2002.
