For this website, we use the term "win Christ" to emphasize that it is the soul who has something to win, and who benefits the most from the relationship.
Winning Christ may be called many different things, such as "getting saved," "giving one's life to Christ," "being born again," "finding Jesus," or "becoming a Christian."
The term "win Christ" is used here because it has often been overlooked, unlike the other terms mentioned above. It also points out something that the
other terms don't cover. We do not begin this new life simply to be "saved" from Hell, give ourselves to God, be born again, or find Jesus, or even to become a part of a
family called "Christians." We do not begin this new life simply to gain blessings. Getting blessings should not be what we focus on.
We begin this new life to win Christ, the top prize. And who doesn't love to win?
Yes, although we belong to Christ (1 Corinthians 3:23), it is Christ who is won by the soul, not the soul that is won by Christ. Therefore we do not say that we "win souls to Christ" as others
often say. There is no talk in the scriptures of souls being won to Christ or by Christ.
In other words, the goal is not to gain or amass more people (souls), or to benefit from gaining more people, but for the people (souls) to gain Christ, and for more people to benefit from the work of Christ and who He is.
The goal is for more people to benefit from winning Christ.
In Philippians 3:7-8, Paul testifies how much it is worth giving up in order to win Christ, saying "But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless,
and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ," verses
later saying "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
